My Story

Wesley B. Morgan, DMA, is a professional operatic tenor turned educator who brings over two decades of performance and teaching experience to his work with singers of all levels and genres.

After earning his Master’s degree from Georgia State University, Wesley launched a robust career as a professional tenor, performing leading roles with companies across the country. His credits include appearances with Atlanta Opera, El Paso Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, Opera Delaware, Asheville Lyric Opera, Opera in the Heights, GLOW Lyric Theatre, Teatro Grattacielo, and many others. He has performed roles such as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte.

Dr. Morgan has also appeared as a tenor soloist with orchestras including the Windsor Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, Tacoma Symphony, and Albany Symphony, in works such as Messiah, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella. His international debut came as the tenor soloist in Messiah with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in Ontario.

Praised by Opera News for his “clear tenor [that] made one wish Giordano had given Alexis more to sing,” and by Greenville News as “a mellifluous tenor but one with ample power for the score’s more dramatic moments,” Dr. Morgan is recognized for his expressive musicianship and stage presence.

Seeking to deepen his understanding of the voice and its pedagogy, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice and Voice Pedagogy at Temple University in Philadelphia. He has since taught voice at institutions including Georgia State University, Temple University, Haverford College, and Georgia Perimeter College. He is currently a member of the Musical Theatre faculty at Florida Southern College, where he teaches applied voice, vocal pedagogy, acting, musical theatre scene study, and serves as Musical Director for Theatre Department musicals.

Dr. Morgan is certified in Somatic Voicework™ – The LoVetri Method, one of the world’s most respected pedagogies for Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM), and has additional training through the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. His approach to teaching blends voice science-based functional training and a holistic view of the singer’s body and mind. This allows him to guide students across a wide range of genres, including opera, musical theatre, and commercial styles.

His students have gone on to appear in Broadway national tours, Off-Broadway productions, and professional regional theatre and opera companies, and have been accepted into elite conservatory graduate programs and signed with top NYC talent agencies.

Wesley’s mission is to help singers unlock their authentic voice through tailored, functional, and genre-appropriate training.

“Studying with Wesley has completely transformed my voice. His intelligence and vast knowledge of technique across all genres – I’ve sung everything from Pop Rock to MT to Opera with him – make him an incredible teacher. But it’s his kindness, generosity, and ability to make singing such a joy that make him the best voice teacher I’ve ever had.”
